Deidre A. Ledbetter

          Hello, I am Deidre Ledbetter your candidate for City Council District 4. I am married to George D. Ledbetter, Jr. and we have a blended family of 5 children, 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. I am an animal lover and we have a dog and 7 stray cats that I feed like my own. We attend St. Edward Catholic Church where I am an adult altar server, eucharistic minister and lector. I enjoy traveling, laughing and meeting and talking to people.

          Just to give a little background as to experience and qualifications for this position, I was an educator for 33 years. Within that time, I spent the majority of those years working with special needs children which is my passion. I also had the opportunity to work with parents in helping their children be successful in school. Helping others, especially those less fortunate, is first and foremost in my life. I retired in May 2015 and have extended my helping hands more into the community.

          George and I own, George Ledbetter Electrical Contractor, an electrical business in which George is the licensed electrician who is now retired but does small jobs to keep himself busy. We have been in business for 40 years. 

          I am currently a member of several civic and fraternal organizations and have served as president or held other major offices in most of them. I have served as a member of various boards and councils that promote and are responsible for providing vital services in the community.

          Additionally, I hope that you have gotten to know me over the past 7 plus years, like what you have seen and witnessed, and want me to represent you for the next 4 years as Mayor Pro Tem.
